Right now, there are beers being served in the Swan Valley that you won’t find anywhere else in the world – pristine, traditionally made brews that have absolutely nothing to do with mass production. Some are organic, many more are preservative-free and all are hand-crafted. Small-batch brewing and a high turnover mean that, depending on the season and whim of the brewer, there’s always something new to try. Usually on tap, though, are up to 40 boutique Swan Valley beers, ranging from classic imperial pale ales and European-style lagers to full-bodied black stouts and porter.

Valley brewers are also fond of including local produce in their beers. In recent years, strawberries, cherries and even pumpkin have all found their way into Swan Valley ales. Today the valley has half a dozen boutique beer outlets, including several microbreweries and two German-style beer cafes serving their own brews with hearty, beer-friendly fare.

It’s not just wine that comes in red and white in our valley. German red and Belgian white are just two of the many styles of locally made beer available for tasting, seven days a week. Swan Valley brewers continue to garner international praise, recently bringing home numerous awards at the 2007 International Australian Beer Awards held in Melbourne.

Distilleries
The Swan Valley region is predominantly renowned for it’s red and white wines and luscious fortifieds. New players to the game in the region are the distilleries that have called the Swan Valley home. Here you will find hand crafted rum, vodka, gin, whiskey and liquers. Enjoy the diversity the Swan Valley of today has to offer, by visiting one of these great venues.

MUST SEE & DO:

• Taste Western Australia’s only award winning organic pilsner at Feral Brewery.
• Drink locally-made boutique beers by the glass or jug and taste over a dozen wines at Oakover Estate.
• Visit the award winning MASH brewery and sample their famous Mex beer.
• Visit Great Northern Distillery to sample their tasting platters.
• Visit Western Australia’s biggest licensed beer garden (it’s over a hectare) at Elmar’s in the Valley.
• Enjoy traditional decoction-mash brews at the Ironbark Brewery Tavern.
• Sample Wild Swan Distillery spirits in unique ‘test tubes’ .
• Check out the Duckstein Brewery’s mechanical oom-pah band and German-style beers.

The Swan Valley is open for business 7 days a week, however some Swan Valley businesses do not open every day.
