Held over the second weekend in October each year, Spring in the Valley is one of Australia’s largest food and wine festivals. Throughout the festival, dedicated bus service travels from Midland train station into the valley, linking festival attractions.
The Taste of the Valley festival coincides with the end of grape harvest in April, while our Midsummer Feast is held in February. Both celebrate local produce, fine wine and the arts - look out for details in the media.It’s not only food and wine that gets celebrated in the valley. Venues throughout the region host twilight concerts and other outdoor musical events during the warmer months.
On the third weekend of January, the award-winning Symphony at Sandalford concert is held at Sandalford Wines. In August, 500 power craft and paddle boats pass through the valley on their way to the finishing line of the Avon Descent. Bell’s Rapid is the last stretch of white water on the final day of competition and is one of the most popular vantage points.
The first match of the international cricketing season is held a the valley’s Lilac Hill cricket ground. Each year, a team of local celebrities and members of the state team, Western Warriors, plays the touring team in an entertaining one-day friendly.
